Dr.  Mingshun Jiang, Research Associate

A trained physical oceanographer and modeler, crossing the boundary into biogeochemical processes, is an ecosystem modeler.

Yiwu Zhu, Research Associate

A trained scientist in atmospheric sciences and mechanical engineering uses Optical Plankton Counter (OPC) and Laser OPC to turn in situ zooplankton into sizes and numbers.

Next cruise:  The Southern Ocean in July-August, 2006.

Ryan D. Dorland, Ph.D. Candidate

A “native” Minnesotan, trained physicist, likes programming and computations, but not more than his love for cold weather in the Southern Ocean (laying on ice).

Next cruise:  The Southern Ocean in July-August, 2006.

Di Wu, Ph.D. Candidate

Trained in mechanical engineering, she is studying the food web machine by understanding how zooplankton are transported and retained in coastal jets and eddies of Oregon coasts.

Zibiao Zhang, in IGS MS program

A tough man coming from the northwest of China, trained in atmospheric chemistry and physics, is building the web based geographic information system linked to our Massachusetts Bay modeling.

Jay O. Peterson, Ph.D.

He received his Ph.D. in 2005, and currently is working for Oregon State University as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Hatfield Marine Science Center.  He is happily married, and lives in Newport, Oregon.
